Bear Paw Lodge is located in North-Western Ontario near the community of Armstrong Station on the shores of Caribou Lake. We are 140 miles north of Thunder Bay on highway 527.
Caribou Lake offers spectacular scenery, fabulous fishing, and tranquility second to none. The lake is 25 miles long and 5 miles wide with over 2800 miles of shoreline. Its west shore borders one of Canada's largest wilderness parks, Wabakimi, which ensures that the lake will remain in its pristine condition for generations to come.
Caribou Lake is over 40 thousand acres and has holes reaching over 250 feet deep. It has incredible structure for walleye to hide in and many grassy bays where monster Northern Pike lurk. The deep areas in the lake are home to countless lake trout which are usually suspended at the 80 foot mark in mid-summer.
Spring fishing is the best when the walleye and northern are finishing the spawn and the lakers are near the surface. Over the course of the summer, the fish move out into deep water, and the real fishing begins. It can be a challenge to find them, but once you're on top of a hole, it's incredible!
In the fall, we offer an opportunity to trophy bear hunt. We maintain a 800 square kilometer bear management unit which allows us to take 16 bear per season.
New for 2010, we are also offering non-resident moose hunts. The package includes the tag, hunting license, accomodations, and boat, motor, and gas.
